Standing Desk Ergonomics – Too much sitting is not healthy for you. But many of us sit at work, then sit on the drive home, and then sit in front of the TV or computer for more hours at night. One solution is to build a stand-up desk so that you can stand while working. Or, you can also customize your treadmill to a desk so you can walk slowly while you work.
Measure the correct height for the keyboard. Stand up. Keep your hand and forearm straight with your elbows at a 90 to 120 degree angle in front of you. Measure the height of the current Standing Desk Ergonomics. Subtract the current desktop height from the desired standing keyboard height. This is the height you want to build your keyboard stand. Obtain a metal stacking shelf. The shelf height can be adjusted in increments of 1 inch by moving locking mechanism on each leg to a higher or lower track. Get a staple shelf wide enough to fit your keyboard and mouse comfortably and sufficiently deeply to fit your screen.
Place the metal shelf on the desk. Put computer screen, keyboard, mouse pad and mouse on the shelf. Place a melamine shelf on top of the metal shelf if the display is not in a comfortable position. You can then add another small metal shelf to the top of the board or otherwise raise the display. Clear the area around the location of your new desktop. Find wall rails using a stud finder, an electronic device that broadcasts sound waves that will bounce studs inside the wall.
